The papers in this collection inspire rethinking the concept of “Othering” and the complexity of relationships and perspectives it entails. As the contributors of these papers show, even the apparently simple binary of Self and Other is not simple at all. In this short Afterword I explore some of the ways the binary unfolds, becomes complicated, stops looking like a binary, and leads into various semiotic principles and political implications.
